It will be no surprise that the last few years have been a complicated time for dentistry. Dentistry never makes it to the top of the agenda for government when there are so many things for them to prioritise so it was only when they shut down dentistry for the Covid lockdown that it suddenly hit the news that we all need access to a dentist. Even if you are one of those who don’t want to go normally, you want to know we’re here for you when you break something or get pain. With a new government of whatever persuasion I can guarantee that dental services will not be front and centre of day one on the job. That’s the reality. I worked for 25 years in the NHS and in the end decided that I had to invest my money into delivering the best possible dental care for patients. I couldn’t rely on someone else to make it happen and many patients are making the same choice for themselves regardless of the choppy political weather.
