What is a Digital Ceph & OPG?
A Ceph (Cephalometric) is an X-ray similar to an OPG (Orthopantomogram), in that it has the capability of capturing a full view of your skull and neck. Ceph X-rays are generally used to diagnose developmental concerns involving the head, neck and jaw that a dentist, orthodontist or surgeon believes may be interfering with proper facial and oral development.
An OPG (Orthopantomogram) is a panoramic or wide view x-ray of the lower face, which displays all the teeth of the upper and lower jaw on a single image. It demonstrates the number, position and growth of all the teeth including those that have not yet surfaced or erupted. It also shows the bone levels in the jaws and your TMJ (Temporomandibular joint).
